Employment contracts

All employment contracts are drafted according to Bulgaria’s Labour Code, clearly defining the worker’s personal details, position, duration, salary, working hours, leave entitlements, probation, termination terms, and notice requirements. Written documentation is mandatory for enforceability.

Background checks

We run proper checks so you don’t have to hope for the best. Comprehensive screening aligns with Bulgarian employment standards and regulatory requirements where applicable.

Visa & work permits

We can help with complete work permits and visa support for international hires across all Bulgarian permit categories where possible.

Equipment provisioning

We make employee onboarding effortless by managing all equipment provisioning. We also have ties with multiple co-working spaces to boost employee productivity where applicable.

Salary structuring

We ensure that compensation packages are compliant with Maltese regulations, including sector-specific Wage Regulation Orders, and include all statutory deductions, calculated accurately for social security and taxes.

Taxes

Employees and employers each contribute around 10% of basic weekly wages to Social Security (Class 1), subject to maximum and minimum thresholds, plus a 0.3% weekly contribution to the Maternity Fund. Personal income tax is progressive from 0–35%, with brackets based on an employee’s tax status (single, married or parent).

Salary

Employees receive regular monthly payouts in EUR, accompanied by payslips that list all statutory deductions. Payments are aligned with statutory payroll deadlines, generally paid on the last working day of the month.

Social security

We register and remit employer and employee social contributions to pension, health, unemployment, and accident funds, in line with current thresholds on a monthly basis as part of our standard payroll process.

Overtime pay

Standard hours are eight hours within a five-day working week, equating to 40 per week. Overtime is regulated and can only be achieved by written mandate from the employer and cannot exceed 10 hours per day. These additional hours are compensated at minimum rates of 50% on top of the daily hourly rate for regular days, 75% for weekends, and 100% for public holidays.

statutory benefits

Labor Law compliance

We ensure full adherence to the Bulgarian Labour Code, covering employment contracts, leave policies, notice periods, termination protocols, and disciplinary procedures, with the adherence of full compliance on matters relating to discrimination.

Worker classification & penalties

Essential worker classification and documentation are critical and are supported under our solution. Our employment contracts and payroll processes ensure full legal compliance to avoid liability. Adherence to the same level of compliance is maintained when onboarding contractors onto our platform.

Audit-ready documentation

Our EOR keeps employment contracts, payslips, contribution statements, time and leave records, and statutory filings organized so we are compliant with our auditing obligations.

compliance 2

Annual leaves

Employees receive a minimum of 20 working days of paid annual leave, provided they have attained 4 months of continuous service. Certain professions may qualify for up to 48 days. Public holidays total 16 paid days per year.

Sick leave

Paid sick leave is granted for up to 180 days, starting with 70% pay by the employer for the first 3 days and 80–90% by social insurance thereafter.

Maternity leave

Women are entitled to up to 410 days of maternity leave, with 135 days paid. Fathers receive 15 days of paid paternity leave, with an optional extension of 2 months for childcare.

leave policies

Notice periods

Indefinite-term contracts require 30–90 days’ notice, most commonly 30 days. Fixed-term contracts demand 3 months’ notice or the contract remainder, whichever is shorter. In cases involving company property, notice may extend to 2 months.

Severance & final payouts

Mandatory severance starts at one month’s gross salary for qualifying dismissals. Final payouts also include compensation for unused annual leave.
