Employment contracts

We support permanent and fixed-term employment contracts, as well as full-time and part-time employment contracts, that comply with  Employment Laws and other labor regulations in Cyprus, clearly outlining role, salary, social insurance contributions, leave entitlements, probation, and termination terms.

Equipment provisioning

Where requested, we make employee onboarding effortless by managing all equipment provisioning. We also have ties with multiple co-working spaces to boost employee productivity.

Social insurance fund

We manage monthly contributions and compliance. Cyprus’s Social Insurance Scheme is mandatory for all employees, with 2025 rates set at 8.8% from the employer and 8.8% from the employee (applied to gross earnings up to the statutory ceiling).

Social cohesion, redundancy & training funds

In addition to social insurance, employers must contribute to: Social Cohesion Fund: 2% of total earnings (no cap); Redundancy Fund: 1.2% of gross earnings, used for severance in redundancy cases; Human Resource Development (Training) Fund: 0.5% of gross earnings, funding national workforce training programs

Other social security contributions

Holiday Fund: the contribution rate varies according to the length of annual leave (if there is no exemption, it is around 8% and is restricted to a maximum level of pay). The contribution is paid entirely by the employer.

National Health Insurance System (NHIS): contributions are split between employers (2.90%) and employees (2.65%).

Bonuses

Bonuses aren’t mandated. They’re discretionary and vary by sector or seniority, more common in industries like tech, media, and engineering, or for roles like directors and senior managers.

Variable Compensation

Much like bonuses, variable compensation, such as commissions, is not mandated; however, they are common in many industries.

Medical Benefits

Some companies offer additional medical benefits, and they can be accommodated along with other benefits under our platform.

other benefits

Cyprus Employment Law coverage

Stay compliant with Cyprus labor laws, which apply to all types of employment contracts.. The framework is primarily governed by the Termination of Employment Law, the Social Insurance Law, and the Protection of Wages Law, covering minimum wage, working hours, leave entitlements, and social insurance obligations.

Worker classification & penalties

Misclassifying employees as self-employed contractors can result in significant penalties and liability for unpaid social insurance contributions.

Annual leaves

Employees working a five-day week are entitled to a minimum of 20 working days of paid annual leave per year (24 days for a six-day week), after completing 48 weeks of continuous employment.

Sick leave

Private-sector employees are eligible for sickness benefits through the Social Insurance Fund after three days of absence, payable for up to 156 days, depending on medical certification. The benefit is a percentage of insurable earnings, and some employers may offer supplementary pay.

Maternity leave

Pregnant employees are entitled to 22 consecutive weeks of maternity leave for the first child, 22 consecutive weeks for the second child, and 26 consecutive weeks for the third (or subsequent) child. If the delivery results in the birth of more than one child (e.g., twins), then the maternity leave is extended by four weeks for each additional child from the same delivery.

The first 11 weeks of maternity leave are compulsory; two weeks must be taken before the expected week of delivery, then the week of delivery, and eight weeks after the week of delivery.

Notice periods

The minimum notice period is 1 week, and the maximum notice period is 8 weeks. Notice period depends on employee tenure.

Severance & final payouts

In Cyprus, if an employee is terminated under certain circumstances, he might be entitled to severance pay. Severance pay depends on the length of service.

Payoneer Workforce Management employs the team directly on its platform to work directly for the customer’s business.  We take care of the employment contracts, payroll, social insurance, statutory benefits, and local labor law obligations.

Our pricing starts at $249/month per employee. Contractor management starts at $19/month.

No. Payoneer Workforce Management acts as the legal employer.

We administer statutory benefits like leave, social insurance, maternity/paternity leave, plus optional provisioning and workspace support.

The EOR concept is not legally recognized in Portugal yet, but the concept means that the legal employer of record, in this case Payoneer Workforce Management, is the legal employer of the individual placed to work in the customer business. The EOR is responsible for handling employment contracts, payroll, taxes, and compliance, so the EOR can hire full-time employees in Portugal without the customer setting up a local entity.

Onboarding usually takes 3-5 business days, assuming documents and approvals are completed on time.

A written employment contract must specify role, salary, leave entitlements, notice periods, probation, termination terms, aligned with Cyprus labor laws.
