Employment contracts

We support permanent, fixed-term, and telework agreements, drafted in Romanian and English. Fixed-term contracts can run for up to 36 months and be renewed twice, with a total maximum duration of 60 months.

Background checks

We can conduct legally compliant checks with employee consent, covering employment history, education, and references, while meeting GDPR and national data protection requirements where applicable.

Medical checks

Employment requires a pre-employment medical certificate confirming fitness to work, provided by an occupational health physician. This is supported under our solution, saving time and ensuring compliance.

Talent discovery

Need help sourcing the right talent in Romania? Our local partners can help you find pre-vetted candidates across tech, finance, healthcare, and more.

onboarding 2

Salary structuring

We set up salaries to include base pay, allowances, contributions for eligible employees (citizens and employees from GCC countries), and statutory entitlements such as gratuity and holiday pay. Overtime is paid at the employee’s normal salary, plus a premium depending on the time/day the overtime is carried out, except for certain categories of employees, such as supervisors.

Taxes

There is no personal income tax in the UAE. Employers contribute 17.5% to social security for eligible UAE nationals; employees contribute 5%.

Payouts

Employees are paid in AED, with payroll cycles aligned to UAE Wage Protection System requirements. Payslips, bank transfer letters, and gratuity calculations are included.

Social security

These mandatory contributions cover pensions, unemployment, sickness, and parental benefits. Contributions are split as 25% from the employee and 2.25% from the employer.

Overtime & premium pay

Extra hours worked over the legal working time are compensated with paid time off or at 175% of the standard rate, and work on weekends or public holidays at 200%. Night work is paid at 125% or with additional time off. This is in line with the laws in the country.

statutory benefits

Employment laws

Written employment contracts are mandatory in Romania, and must follow the Ministry of Labor’s standard format, including salary, benefits, working hours, leave entitlements, and termination clauses.

Worker classification

Employees work under the employer’s direction and receive regular pay with social security and health insurance contributions. Contractors operate independently, manage their own tax and insurance, and have different compliance requirements.

Working hours & overtime

Standard hours are 40 per week, up to 48 including overtime. Overtime must be compensated with paid time off or higher pay rates.

Audit-ready documentation

Payroll filings, tax declarations, and employment records must be accurate, up to date, and ready for inspections by labor authorities, which is common in Romania.

compliance 2

Annual leaves

Employees in Romania get a minimum of 20 paid working days per year, which can be taken in parts but must include at least one uninterrupted period of 15 working days.

Sick leave

Employees get up to 5 days paid by the employer at 75% of salary; longer absences (up to 183 days, or 18 months for severe cases) are paid by the state.

Maternity Leaves

Female employees are entitled to 126 days, paid at 100% of their average income over the past 12 months, funded by the employer and recovered from the  National Social Security Fund.

leave policies

Notice periods

Notice periods vary depending on role and seniority. The minimum notice period as provided by law is 20 working days. The specific notice period can be agreed in the employment contract at a higher rate, which is common in Romania.

Severance

There is no statutory requirement for severance pay in Romania, although it may be provided if agreed upon in the employment contract or company policy.
