Public Health Insurance

Public health insurance is mandatory, with contributions deducted from salaries.

Social security contributions

Employers contribute 16.75%–20.75% of wages, and employees contribute 14%. These contributions cover health, disability, retirement, and unemployment insurance.

Bonuses

Bonuses aren’t mandated. They’re discretionary and vary by sector or seniority, more common in industries like tech, media, and engineering, or for roles like directors and senior managers.

Variable Compensation

Much like bonuses, variable compensation such as commissions are not mandated, however they are common in many industries.

Annual leaves

Employees who have completed one year of service are entitled to paid annual leave based on tenure: 14 days for one to five years of service, 20 days for more than five years but less than fifteen years, and 26 days for fifteen years or more.

Sick leaves

Employees are entitled to temporary incapacity payments as a proportion of the salary. These are paid by the Social Security Institution (‘SSI’) from the third day of sick leave provided that:

The employer is obliged to pay the employee wages for the first two days of sickness.

Maternity leaves

16 weeks of paid leave (8 before and 8 after birth), extended to 18 weeks for multiple births. Includes the option for six months of unpaid leave afterward and daily breastfeeding breaks.

Notice periods

Statutory notice depends on length of service: 2 weeks for less than 6 months, 4 weeks from 6 months to less than18 months, 6 weeks for 18–36 months, and 8 weeks for over 36 months.

Probation periods

Probation can be up to two months, extendable to four months by collective bargaining agreement. During probation, either party may end the contract without notice.

Severance

Employees may be entitled to severance pay based on tenure and contract type, in accordance with local labor laws. Severance compensation only applies to employees with at least one year of seniority.

We manage statutory benefits such as health insurance, social security contributions, and applicable allowances. Additional benefits like equipment provisioning or private insurance can be arranged based on specific  requirements.

The EOR concept is not legally recognized in Turkey yet, but the concept means that the legal employer of record, in this case Payoneer Workforce Management, is the legal employer of the individual placed to work in the customer business. The EOR is responsible for handling employment contracts, payroll, taxes, and compliance, so the EOR can hire full-time employees in Turkey without the customer setting up a local entity.

Onboarding timelines depend on document readiness and approvals. Once employment contracts are signed and documents are in, onboarding typically takes 3–5 working days

We offer indefinite employment contracts to our employees (part-time or full time). They must comply with Turkish labor laws and  include terms for role, salary, working hours, overtime, benefits, probation, and notice periods.
